WINCHESTER WRITERS' FESTIVAL 2016

This was my first writers' festival and it was amazing.  Writing can be a lonely job so suddenly being surrounded by other writers was the perfect way to spend three days.  I had four one to one appointments booked and had sent off the relevant sample chapters to agents.  Sitting outside waiting to be called in was nerve-racking but all of the agents were welcoming and put me at ease very quickly.

THE BEST BIT
I had one agent ask for a complete manuscript of my latest book once it is finished.  Two other agents were very enthusiastic about EVE and the new book which I mentioned in the last sentence of my covering letter together with a strap line.  I was amazed how much interest this provoked.

MASTERCLASS WITH SARAH MUSSI
This was such a helpful and inspirational class on How to Write an Award Winning Young Adult Novel.  Sarah certainly knows her subject and the content was perfect from book title to the 'green light' system she shared with us.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Meg Rosoff gave an insightful and amusing speech.  What a nice, down-to-earth person.  I have a copy of There Is No Dog on my bookshelf ready to read over the school holidays.

All in all it was the best experience I have had as a writer and I am already planning on going to next year's festival.
