A MIDDLE GRADE STORY SET CLOSE TO HOME

I have recently completed a middle-grade book, Hunky Punk Moon.  The idea has been in my head for some time now  and after writing several Young Adult books I felt it was time to get back to a slightly younger audience.

Setting a story in my local vicinity has been brilliant and helped enormously by the fact I live close to a number of mysterious places that are steeped in folklore.  A shout out to South Somerset!  There was so much there to use that the characters soon took on their own personalities and evolved into great story tellers.  My two main characters are strong and feisty.  They are born three hundred years apart yet time isn't a barrier to them forming a close friendship.

I have just completed a third edit and am happy with the structure of the story and how the themes of friendship, courage and loyalty run through it.

I love writing for young adults but have thoroughly enjoyed slipping into a slightly different genre.  I already have plans for a sequel so watch this space.
